ABOUT CITADEL

Citadel Holdings Inc (Citadel) is a private holding company with investments in aviation services (groundhandling and general sales agency), freight management and logistics, and telecommunications.  Francisco C. Delgado, one of the leading post-war businessmen in the Philippines, serves as the company’s Honorary Chairman.

Ricardo C. Delgado took over as CEO in 1984, and has increased the size of the firm over the years through organic growth and strategic acquisitions.

Under his stewardship, Citadel became one of the pioneers in the liberalization of the Philippine telecommunications industry.  As the majority shareholder of Isla Communications (ISLACOM), the firm launched the first cellular GSM network in the Philippines.  After turning ISLACOM into a viable telecommunications provider, Citadel agreed to a buyout by Deutsche Telekom in 1999.  The buyout raised substantial capital for investment locally and abroad.

Citadel also is the market leader in commercial aviation services.

  • MIASCOR Groundhandling is the leading provider of passenger, ramp, and cargo handling services at the Manila, Cebu, Clark, Davao and Kalibo international airports.  Through MIASCOR Logistics, we have our own customs bonded warehouse and service the international air cargo requirements of our clients.  Through MIASCOR Aircraft Maintenance, we service and maintain the commercial jets of our clients.
  • MIASCOR Airline Catering, in partnership with Gate Gourmet (a Gate Group subsidiary) and Malaysia Airlines, operates two (2) world-class facilities that can serve up to 6,000 meals per day in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Manila) and 4,000 meals per day in Clark Air Field, Pampanga.
  • Through a joint venture with Hydro Nordisk Aviation of Norway,  Nordisk Aviation Services assembles, repairs and maintains containers, pallets, and nets for air cargo consolidators and airlines from its facilities at the Manila and Subic airports.
Citadel is also the leading General Sales Agent (GSA) for both airlines (passengers and cargo) and marine cargo.   Citadel represents the following airline principals for passenger bookings:

  • Continental
  • Sri Lankan Airlines
  • Royal Brunei
  • Air Astana
  • Turkish Airlines

For airline cargo bookings, Citadel represents the following principals:

  • Qantas
  • Air Hongkong
  • Ruslan International (Volga Dnepre and Antonov Airlines)
  • Continental
  • China Southern Airlines
  • DHL
  • Mandarin Air
  • Qatar Airways
  • Transmile Air
  • Vietnam Airlines
  • Air Macau
  • Royal Brunei
  • Air Astana
  • Cebu Pacific

For marine cargo, Citadel Shipping Services represents Hyundai Merchant Marine, one of the largest cargo shippers out of Korea.

Through its Rapid Airfreight subsidiary, Citadel serves as a leading 3rd party logistics provider to several prominent local and multinational corporations.

In 2005, the Delgado family took over the operations of Verizon in Micronesia and currently re-branded the company to IT&E.  This made the Delgado family the first foreign company to be given approval to own LEC business in the United States post 9/11, having undergone rigorous screening by the FBI, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the Department of Homeland Security.

In 2006, IT&E welcomed Sumitomo Corporation as a long term strategic partner.  At present, IT&E is the largest telecommunications company in the Marianas with over 80,000 total subscribers on four islands.

In the past three decades Citadel has demonstrated its ability to deploy capital as well as partner with leading international companies to create and grow businesses in several industries.

The current President and Chief Executive, Jose Ricardo P.R. Delgado, will continue the mandate:

  • Consolidate and manage the existing businesses for value;
  • Grow in new areas in which the firm has a demonstrated advantage.
